To The Dolls

One day Addison asked for a bed for her dolls. I love to build stuff so I decided to look on www.ana-white.com for some plans.
The kids have bunk beds of their own so I chose the doll bunkbed design. It matches their bed exactly and she will be able to put her doll and horse to sleep.
Here are the plans:

I went to Lowe's and got some furring strips which are 2"x1" I had some 2"x2" wood pieces from and earlier project so I decided to use that for the corners. I had to change the plans up slightly to use the 2"X2" instead.

I used the Kreg Jig (shown below) to bring the wood pieces together. I only drilled one hole in the center but maybe on future projects I will do two on each side. With only having one the wood would twist and it was hard to keep it square.
I sanded all of the boards before I attached them to make it easier. Once it was put together I filled the holes with wood filler. I used to use my finger to apply it in the holes but it would always either be too thick which resulted in tons of sanding to get it flush with the wood or it would have indentation and I would have to keep applying more. I ended up buying a small putty knife and it works like a charm.
Here are the pieces after I drilled the holes.
I then painted it with spray paint. I thought it would be easier getting into all the spaces by using spray paint instead of a paint brush. The only thing was I didn't prime it first. I had to use two cans of spray paint and it still would show through. I bought a spray primer which helped a lot.

Here is a bigger view of me painting the bed. I got the pink spray paint from Michael's using a 40% off coupon. It was about the same price at Lowe's vs Michael's so with using the coupon it made it cheaper at Michael's.
She asked for pink with flowers and that's what she got. I used acrylic paint from Michael's and free handed the flowers on it. I then sprayed it with a spray polyurethane to seal it.
Here is the finished product! So cute if I do say so myself.  I made mattresses, pillow and blankets with some left over fabric from Addison's crib bedding that I made when she was a baby.
Here she is tucking in her doll and horse.
